Glitter & Lace: Part 2~ Glitter Heels

Hello! I mentioned before I was bringing you a tutorial on how to glitterize your old heels as Part 2 of the Glitter and Lace project I was doing. Like last time, I found this tutorial on Pinterest but it links to a blog called Lauryn Galloway Photography'.
To start this tutorial, you first gather your supplies. You will need:
  • An old pair of heels or really any shoe. I wouldn't do this with canvas or cloth shoes, but if you try it let me know in the comments how it turns out!
  • Glitter- Any color(s) (Of course!) I would use Martha Stewart craft glitter (You can find it on Amazon using the search box to the right)
  • Mod Podge Lustre (Or make it yourself with this easy recipe!)
  • A brush to apply the Mod Podge (I'm sure you could use a sponge brush too)
  • A clear glaze spray
  • A bowl
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Sand Paper (or a nail file)
Alright so before we begin, we need to make a glitter-proof workspace. I recommend laying out some newspaper for an easy cleanup.  Then, sand your heels until they're raw. After that, cover the inside of your heels and the bowl in aluminum foil. Again, we are aiming for an easy cleanup and this will prevent dirtying- and possibly ruining- your bowl. It will also keep Mod Podge and glitter out of the inside of your heels.

Now you need to mix the glitter and Mod Podge together in the bowl. Pour the glitter first. Lauryn said she did this very slowly adding more of each ingredient as needed. She described the sufficient consistency as 'its-almost-about-to-one-more-piece-of-glitter-and-it-will-be-gloopy'.
After this, take your brush and apply two thin layers of Mod Podge Glitter Paste. You may need to do more than two layers if you have less glitter. Allow plenty of time for them to dry (this could mean overnight) and then spray them with the clear glaze. NOTE: When you are letting them dry, keep the foil in them so the glaze doesn't get in your shoe.

Her finished result looked like this:

Thank you Lauryn for making this tutorial! (Everyone say thank you now!) Your work is fantastic!
Stay tuned for part 3 of the Glitter & Lace project!

♥, Elizabeth
